Naming Ceremony

A naming ceremony is an opportunity to welcome your child into your family and the wider community, and to publicly pledge your love and support to them. It is an alternative to a religious christening or baptism.

A Naming Ceremony not only introduces and acknowledges your baby’s chosen name; it is also an expression of your love, support and encouragement. It can also be an opportunity to acknowledge the role of others who will have an important role in your child’s life such as siblings, grandparents and friends, and appoint godparents or guardians. It is a wonderful time for deepening family relationships, and a time for nurturing love and togetherness.

I will guide you through the planning stages of your ceremony as I email draft copies and talk to you personally as drafts are edited, until your ceremony is complete and you are happy with it.

There is no legal responsibility for a godparent/guardian to raise the child in the event of the death of the parent/s. This aspect should be catered for in a legal will.
